“ Cute place just off of Lankershim. Placed order on the phone for a Cubano sandwich lunch special and the Pollo Caribe Salad. When you call they try to send you to the online order page which is sponsored by chow now, which probably means prices are marked up. So I called and waited to speak to someone at the restaurant. Placed my order and she said it'd be about 10 minutes. It takes 10 mins to drive there so I got in the car. Parking was easy - there was parking out front. Don't think there's a parking lot but not sure. The place has a homey feel - has a gate door in front of the regular door. Wonder if this used to be a house? Went up to the counter and told the lady my name for the order. She said it would just be a few minutes, so I paid and waited. Got the food and she said to check it just in case. I like that, because so many times you take the food and its not until you get home that you notice something is missing. All was good so I drove home. Food was good - my cubano sandwich was yummy as was the fries. My hubby enjoyed the salad and shared some with me. There were plantains in the salad and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Overall a good lunch spot. My food was very filling! ”
“ I finally made it in and dined at the only Puerto Rican restaurant in Los Angeles. I've been getting so many recommendations to try Mofongos over the years and decided to come in because of a pop-up I am planning to attend this weekend from a chef who recently moved here from Portland. My cousin from Portland suggested I try the Puerto Rican pop-up in DTLA this weekend. I ordered the mofongo de pernil (crispy roasted pork shoulder on green plantains) and arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) which are considered national dishes of Puerto Rico. I have always had in the back of my mind someone telling me that she didn't like the food in Puerto Rico because it was "bland." The dishes at Mofongos were not bland. They were comforting and flavorful -- I need every bit of comfort these days! I am now considering a trip to Puerto Rico to sightsee... and eat! The service was warm and friendly. I definitely felt welcomed and would not hesitate returning to try more dishes along with some of the appetizers and cocktails like the piña colada or coquito. Plenty of parking on the street in front of the restaurant. ”
“ I had the Mofongo con Pernil, and it was perfection--crispy yet fluffy mashed plantains with juicy, flavorful roast pork that melted in my mouth. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and every bite tastes like it was made with love. Their tostones were fresh and perfectly crispy, and the flan for dessert was the perfect sweet ending. Service was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and full of that welcoming Puerto Rican hospitality. Whether you're a longtime fan of Puerto Rican cuisine or trying it for the first time, Mofongos is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back! ”
“ Asopao de camarones and tostones, delicious, especially on a rainy day. Alcapurrias were great as well. Very good and attentive service. ”
“ Great little spot. Cozy and nicely decorated. My luncheon friend was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and as a regular, he says Mofongos is legit. With that declaration, and his guidance, we ordered the following: Pastelillos (4) - One of each, beef, Chicken, cheese, and pizza. These mini empanadas are so tasty and full of flavor. It's a must order dish. Asopao de Camarones - shrimp soup with rice & peas Pure comfort food Delicious, hearty, and packed with flavor. Mofongo de Pechuga Asada - Mofongo stuffed with chopped chicken breast. A signature dish of Mofongos and a Puerto Rican classic. Arroz con Gandules - pigeon pea rice. Everything was delicious. This is Puerto Rican food at its finest. The flavors were full and authentic. There are few PR spots in LA, and this might be the best one. The service was very friendly and helpful. Mofongos is definitely with a visit. ”
“ Ayooo! Been meaning to try place for the longest. Was on the run so decided to order take out. Staff was so nice and food came out quick considering they had a full house already seated. I ordered the Pork Pernil with side of Rice, Black Beans and Plantains. Let me tell you each component was seasoned perfectly. You did not need to add any sauces to anything except if you wanted to add some type of hot sauce. The pernil was shredded then had some chunks of crunchy pieces that were my Fav. Like i said no seasoning was needed, lots of garlic flavor throughout the pork. Rice, Black Beans and Plantains were all delicious. Street Parking is available and Cards were accepted. I will return and so should you! ”
“ Very quaint! Food is good. Service was quick! Very attentive server. Parking is street parking! He asked if this was my first time visiting, which could be obvious based on my curiosity of the setting. Art work on the walls are very eclectic and colorful. I will return to try other dishes. ”
